Dear community,
Welcome back to our weekly Product Update, January 2025 edition! We’re excited to keep you in the loop on what’s been happening with our Tokenization Platform - and to give you a heads-up on some major progress for the upcoming ONINO Mainnet. As always, we’ll share both the polished features and the behind-the-scenes hurdles we’ve been tackling.
1. Tokenization Platform: Recent Developments
Q1/2025 Planning Completed
Our development team has fully mapped out the product roadmap for the first quarter of 2025. We’ve pinned down key milestones and filled our backlog with the epics and tasks needed to achieve our quarterly goals. From user-friendly UI/UX improvements to robust, compliance-focused back-end structures, we’re confident that this new roadmap will keep us aligned and on track.
Cashlink Integration Now Complete
In our last product update, we highlighted the progress we were making to integrate with Cashlink’s BaFin-licensed API suite. We’re thrilled to announce that this integration is now 100% complete:
Our secure API gateway has been fully built, tested, and reviewed - passing all compliance and functionality checks.
We carefully verified our integration to ensure that both the data flow and access control meet the highest security standards.
Frontend Integration for Seamless Tokenization
Having finalized the backend integration of the Cashlink API, we’ve moved on to the frontend:
The onboarding process for new token issuers is now fully integrated with Cashlink’s API. This means that everything from KYC checks to token issuance runs smoothly within a single, intuitive flow.
We’ve worked hard to make the process of emitting and purchasing tokenized securities as frictionless as possible. Early testing feedback with our partners and prospects has been great, and we look forward to sharing more once we open this up to broader beta testing.
Introducing Organizations
One of our biggest architectural changes this month has been the addition of Organizations.
Why We Built It? Previously, we had all tokenization projects under one roof, which any admin could manage. Now, we have introduced the notion of organizations. Organizations can own multiple tokenization projects and allow for more fine-granular access control, ensuring that admins of a particular organization can manage and configure their (and only their) organization’s projects.
This upgrade involved a major overhaul of our access-control system. We had to insert an extra “organizational layer” in our data model so that user roles and permissions could be mapped not just to projects, but also to entire organizations.
We’re deepening the idea of a central ONINO Marketplace. Opposed to the custom white-label tokenization platform instances that our current clients are running, this is a central platform instance hosted by ONINO, where multiple companies can launch their tokenization projects in a single place - and where investors can sign up only once to participate in a variety of different tokenization projects.
This new layer of organizations is a foundational step toward that future.
2. Behind the Screens 🤓
As you know, we love to share a bit of what it’s really like to build and maintain a secure and user-friendly tokenization platform. Here’s a look at the biggest challenge we tackled in the last month:
Organizations & Role Management: A Headache Worth Having
Imagine the complexity of having multiple organizations, each with multiple projects, and each project with its own permissions for different administrators and users. Adding this new organizational layer sometimes felt a bit like playing 4D chess - especially with our existing role-based access controls (RBAC) and row-level security (RLS) in place.
- Why It Was Tricky: Every feature and microservice had to respect this new hierarchical structure. We had to update not only our database scheme but also all relevant API endpoints to ensure that data doesn’t “leak” between organizations.
- How We Conquered It: Our dev team spent countless hours testing permission scenarios - everything from “Org Admin wants to manage a single project” to “Global Super Admin wants to see analytics across multiple organizations.” After a few late nights (and several cups of coffee and pizzas ordered to the office), we emerged with a robust system that’s built to scale as more organizations join the platform.
3. ONINO Mainnet Progress
While our Tokenization Platform is a major focus, we’re also getting closer to launching the ONINO Mainnet on April 1st! As you know, there’s not only the Mainnet itself but also several “surrounding apps”:
Blockchain Explorer
A user-friendly explorer is in the works, allowing you to track transactions, blocks, and on-chain data with ease.
Web Wallet for Staking
Our Web Wallet development is nearly complete, with native delegated staking now fully built. In just a few weeks, our community members will be able to test this on the ONINO Testnet.
Token Migration Tool
For existing ERC-20 ONI token holders, we’re finalizing a secure and compliant migration application that will help you transfer your tokens seamlessly to the upcoming ONINO chain.
Delegated Staking: A Quick Preview
We know staking is a hot topic in the community. We’re proud to announce that our native delegated staking feature is in final testing! It works quite similarly to our existing pre-network staking at staking.onino.io, but has a few modifications:
Users can delegate their ONINO tokens to validators who secure the network, earning rewards for helping maintain blockchain consensus.
Soon you’ll be able to try this feature yourself on the ONINO Testnet to already get a feeling for the new, native staking process - and as always, provide us with your valuable feedback.
4. Your Input Matters!
As we continue to evolve, we want to hear from you! Which technical areas would you like to dive deeper into? Which behind-the-scenes challenges pique your interest? Let us know, and we’ll do our best to provide the insights you want.
Until next time,
Your ONINO Development Team
